BNSF designates two new Certified Sites
FORT WORTH, Texas – Two new industrial locations have been recognized with BNSF Railway Company’s (BNSF) Certified Sites designation. These new Certified Sites are located in Galesburg, Illinois, and Clovis, New Mexico. Sites must undergo a thorough analysis, which includes an evaluation of environmental and geotechnical standards, available utilities, site availability and existing and projected infrastructure to be considered for the designation.
- Logistics Park Galesburg, Galesburg, Illinois – Located along BNSF’s main line and I-74, Logistics Park Galesburg offers prospective tenants more than 300 acres of shovel-ready land for development and is zoned for heavy industrial use. BNSF has a major presence in Galesburg, including one of BNSF’s busiest classification yards.
- Clovis Industrial Park, Clovis, New Mexico – Approximately 240 acres are available for development in the park, which is located near BNSF’s Southern Transcon route and U.S. Highways 60, 70 and 84. Clovis is also home to a BNSF classification yard.
“We are looking forward to growing our industrial park with the help of BNSF’s Certified Site designation,” said Chase Gentry of the Clovis Industrial Development Corporation. “Two businesses are located at the park now, and we expect to see additional industrial expansion as a result of today’s announcement.”
Certified Sites are a part of BNSF’s Premier Parks, Sites and Transload program. The program is a strategic approach that addresses the increasing demand for customer site locations by developing various types of facilities across BNSF’s network. Businesses looking to locate at any of these properties could save six to nine months of construction time as a result of this analysis. BNSF Certified Sites have been reviewed by an industry expert to ensure accurate and reliable data. The goal of the program is to provide an inventory of rail-served sites that are available for immediate development.
“We are pleased to be partnering with BNSF in this latest project and bringing additional jobs to Galesburg as we grow the industrial footprint in our region,” said Ken Springer, president, Knox County Area Partnership for Economic Development. “BNSF and Galesburg have a long history together and we are excited to grow that relationship.”
